Let’s First See if They Drown

In April 2020, with nothing else to do, my family took an enormous number of hikes.

-          Let’s Declare a Pandemic Amnesty, Opinion by Emily Oster

I came across this piece thanks to Karen De Coster, referenced in her LRC blog post entitled The Satanic Church-of-Covid Left Begs for Mercy.  I will allow her to introduce it (in case her title isn’t sufficient):

The sham propaganda continues to twist in the wind, looking for one last chance to be embraced by the gaslighted masses.

Returning to Oster.

We all wore cloth masks that I had made myself.

That was very scientific.  Homemade masks.  I wonder what surgeons and epidemiologists thought about that before March 2020?

It’s bad enough that the parents in this family were deluded, what they did to their children was horrendous:

Once, when another child got too close to my then-4-year-old son on a bridge, he yelled at her “SOCIAL DISTANCING!”

Someone’s dad should have decked the other child’s dad.

These precautions were totally misguided. … But the thing is: We didn’t know.

Bullsh!#.  We did know.  Those telling you to mask and social distance knew that they were lying.  Countless pre-stupidity peer-reviewed studies were clear: masking by amateurs with pretend masks (let alone homemade masks) was useless – and even harmful – when it came to dealing with airborne viruses.

We knew that anyone younger than seventy years old with no co-morbidities was at virtually zero risk of serious complications.  We knew that continuing in school was the best option for young people.  We knew that the virus (such as it was) travelled equally well in both strip clubs and churches, but only one of these was closed.  We knew when politicians and other leaders went to restaurants or hair salons without masking while we were all forced into a face diaper that it was a lie.  We knew that these modern jabs were based on science that failed every test before.  We knew that forcing the decision of jab or job on individuals was both immoral and corrupt.

We knew.  And so did those who said otherwise.

And on every topic, someone was eventually proved right, and someone else was proved wrong.

And on every topic, the people most listened to were always wrong, and those who were cancelled were (almost) always right.  This latter group wasn’t made up of just loons like me; hundreds of prominent and world-renowned doctors and scientists were cancelled because they didn’t agree with MSNBC, CNN, or “the science.”  Go back and read the Great Barrington Declaration (as mild as it is), written in October 2020 and signed initially by almost fifty doctors and scientists and currently by almost one million individuals.

They knew.  But Collins and Fauci and others worked to crush this attempt at minimal rational pushback.

The people who got it right, for whatever reason, may want to gloat. Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

Nope.  I don’t want to gloat; that’s not good enough for me.  And nope, I won’t merely allow the criminals to retrench; that isn’t justice.

I want to tie a stone around the belly of every last one of them, all those in politics and media and big business and big tech and big education who shoved two years of hell down our throats, throw them in a lake, and see if they drown.

We have to put these fights aside and declare a pandemic amnesty.

The desire of every miscreant in history.

We can leave out the willful purveyors of actual misinformation….

I agree fully.  No amnesty for those willful purveyors in politics and media and big business and big tech and big education who knew they were lying.

Moving on is crucial now, because the pandemic created many problems that we still need to solve.

No, the pandemic didn’t create these problems.  These problems were created by the reaction to a barely-more-harmful-than-the-ordinary-flu virus by those in politics and media and big business and big tech and big education.  And all these problems were predicted by many at the time, but ignored by those in politics and media and big business and big tech and big education:

Student test scores have shown historic declines, more so in math than in reading, and more so for students who were disadvantaged at the start.

Yes.  That was certain to happen when kids were kicked out of school.

Many people have neglected their health care over the past several years.

Yes.  That was certain to happen when the elderly were made too scared to visit a doctor.

The standard saying is that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. But dwelling on the mistakes of history can lead to a repetitive doom loop as well.

Sure.  Let’s not look back on these decisions; it is only second guessing.  Instead, guess what is offered?  More government-led solutions are proposed for these government-led problems.

Conclusion

Let’s acknowledge that we made complicated choices in the face of deep uncertainty….

No.  Let’s strap a boulder onto those purveyors of lies in politics and media and big business and big tech and big education before being sent into the water.  Only if they drown, demonstrating their innocence, will I believe that they were victims of “complicated choices” made “in the face of deep uncertainty.”

But if they float, thus demonstrating their guilt?  How about life in prison with the following prison rules: permanent mask-wearing, never allowed within six feet of another person, no access to medical or dental care, no education opportunities, no prison jobs, and jabs every six months.  The only allowance, unlike that made for us, will be for church attendance.

But drown or float, either way I’m good.

  1. Amnesty means a crime has been committed. A crime demands justice for resolution. Amnesty without resolution is itself a crime.

  2. I think what they really want is some sort of act of Congress for legal immunity against lawsuits and criminal charges. The spike protein includes a gene similar to the one making HIV infective. This was patented by Moderna in 2013, before the gain of function research was offshored to China. Patents are not allowed for natural sequences - it must be one you made in your lab. So this is a smoking gun; The "vaccine" is a population reduction measure, just like Dr. Yeadon said in Spring of 2020.
What they are worried about is 5000 counts of felony murder.

  3. I used to feel similarly about the many agents and enablers of the State back in my "pure NAP libertarian" days. All the suffering and destruction theh caused... unthinkable. Surely they could not be allowed to get away with it. And yet there was never any real hope of them being brought to justice. Most people were along for the ride as far as government goes; the accounting of sin and victimhood in the whole affair was an impossible task.

With covid it seems to me even worse, because so many otherwise (apparently) sane people not only went along, but willfully helped to propagate the insanity and maliciously went after those who didn't. We all know them: family, friends, colleagues. They remain largely, willfully ignorant, and the consequences of that ignorance are still playing out in many ways.

What to do about that? I haven't the power or the authority to bring justice. But I've come to believe that idiocy deserves its own reward. What I can do is try to shield myself and mine from the consequences, and maybe help justice along with a gentle push when the opportunity presents itself.

Same here. Call this article one of my gentle pushes.

  4. Back in the colonial days, men would organize together to tar and feather leaders who stepped out of the bounds of honesty, decency, and justice. They paraded the humiliated politicians through the main street and left them to painfully undo what had been done to them. We need to get back to our great American traditions.

  5. My first comment after I saw the article was that they should all be sent to Chairman Mao II, put under house arrest indefinitely, and the door welded shut. My guess is that they wouldn't survive until Spring.

But...that is not Christ-like, is it?

Consider what is happening. They have lost control of the narrative and they know it. What can they do? There are only three options available and one of them is not acceptable. You tell me which it is.

    1. Refuse to admit any wrongdoing and double down.
    2. Beg for amnesty, but make excuses for behavior.
    3. Confess The Sin, ask for forgiveness, and work to make restitution.

One good thing which has come out of this is that the plans of those responsible are now public knowledge. We have seen what they are capable of and have an awareness of what is in store for us if those plans are not stymied. However, a lot of people, willfully or ignorantly blind before Covid, have seen the light and are increasingly suspicious. They will not easily fall for the same trick (or even one which seems similar) again. This is a good thing.

Consider that those who were responsible for the fraud and the lies have lost the trust of millions, perhaps billions, of people world-wide. There is a large and growing number who will never again believe anything which comes out of their mouths. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." This is a good thing.

What is coming next may make Covid look like a stroll in the park, but we know now, from experience, that it can be beaten. Forewarned is forearmed. Stand strong, my friends, and keep your faith in the One Who said, "Vengeance is mine. I will repay."

    We need do nothing more.

    1. I agree with this, but would only comment on one point:

      "But...that is not Christ-like, is it? "

Ezekiel 7: 1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “And you, O son of man, thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land. 3 Now the end is upon you, and I will send my anger upon you; I will judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations. 4 And my eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity, but I will punish you for your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

I think we (myself included) often forget that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New.

  6. You're being played like a fiddle. This is exactly what they want you to do. This is THEIR narrative! In a nutshell, here's their playbook: Get as many people to take the clot shot, and be as nasty as possible about making sure the "purebloods" are miserable if they don't. At some point, it will become obvious that this isn't working. TOO LATE! The horses are out of the barn, and nobody is going to be able to put them back after the fact. That's their plan. They won!

They want you ticked off! They want you to start lusting for blood and looking for a scapegoat. Science and history both reveal how effective scapegoats are at giving the feeble minded unwashed masses a sense of justification and closure. The elite will have no problem tossing Fauci, and any figurehead from the other governmental bureau-ocracies to the bloodthirsty crowd. Big Pharma will get a slap on the wrist like they always do. They want you to hang your federal and state representatives from the nearest light pole or tree limb. They want you distracted on this nonsense while they continue to blindly rip you off.

This whole scam didn't bother me in the slightest due to the tact that I never had to take any shots, wear masks, or social distance in the first place. I didn't play into their narrative because I wasn't fooled by it and I didn't see any point in playing THEIR games. The fact is that you have to begin by forgiving yourself for allowing yourself to timidly go along with it in the first place.

  8. I do not believe there is Natural Law. For it to be Natural Law there must be some consequence or outcome that exacts a natural penalty, not a penalty from a court, a jury or police. There is no foundation of human rights based on Natural Law, that is a social construction. A natural law would more be like Machiavelli's version of the Golden Rule: "Do nothing to anyone who may retaliate against you". In other words, you reap what you sow without any court, written law, or prison.

The famous proponent of Natural Law and the US Constitution, John Locke, was a physician and propagandist for oligarch Lord Ashley.

I do not mean to say that human dignity or religious freedom are merely relative. What government needs to be founded on today is to protect natural institutions, also called Mediating Structures, such as family, church, neighborhood, small business persons guilds, farmers, and true voluntary institutions not the Astroturf non-governmental organizations subsidized by government. Its chief proponent was Alexis de Tocqueville and the Catholic Church principle of Subsidiarity.

    1. Thank you for the comment. I have a couple of thoughts:

      1) Natural law would do better under a different name. I have at times expanded it to "natural law ethics." It isn't "law" the way we understand the word today.

      2) "For it to be Natural Law there must be some consequence or outcome that exacts a natural penalty, not a penalty from a court, a jury or police."

It does, but not always immediate and not always against the violator of the natural law ethic. For example, there is a natural law ethic regarding sexual relationships. Violating this ethic may cause little harm to the perpetrator, much more harm to others around him/her (offspring, spouse, etc.) and meaningful harm long term to society. I don't believe I need expand further on this example.

      3) As to the need for mediating structures, I agree wholeheartedly and have written often on this (see the bibliography tab at the top of the page, then scroll down for Nisbet's Quest for Community).

But government as it is today will not be our friend here. Intermediating institutions were most prevalent when the Church and king held competing positions of authority, with neither holding a monopoly.

  9. I never thought about Natural Law until just a few years ago when I became engaged in an extended email conversation with Michael Rozeff. R.I.P., Michael, I miss you. Since then, my understanding of the concept has grown and is constantly evolving. I am not sure I could explain it properly.

Wayne Lusvardi brings up a valid point. There must be a natural consequence to a violation of natural law.

For instance, if you jump out of an airplane without a parachute, you are going to hit the ground hard. If you eat spoiled meat, you are going to get sick. If you are cold and build a fire, it will throw off heat by which you can warm yourself. These are automatic consequences for actions taken and they may or may not be beneficial to the actor. Examples of this type are myriad and we cannot establish society (the working relationship between people) on such examples.

When we throw morality into the mix, it becomes more complicated. If a loaded pistol is discharged from behind into the head of a person kneeling on the ground, the natural consequence of such action is that someone is killed. No one needs to understand the physics of ballistics, pressure, nor velocity to know that this is a crime. However, unlike the implacable law of gravity, the person who violated the rights of another person may actually get away with murder.

The NATURAL law exists and the consequences are immediate, but it remains for the MORAL law to determine justice for the benefit of society. I tend to think that these ought to be considered separately because the consequences of immorality do not always become immediately evident.

Granted, there are consequences of the violation of moral law, but these can be seen from history and we are warned in advance not to commit such actions, lest we perish. This is a social argument which has its roots in SPIRITUAL law..."Be holy because I am holy."

Not always immediate, and maybe not even for the perpetrator. See my reply to Wayne above.
