We find, at Bleeding
Heart Libertarians: Free Markets & Social Justice (try to wrap your
mind around that combination), a critique of the bill to replace Obamacare.
Don’t get your hopes up.
I propose that the federal
government establish a national health care budget in the amount of seven
percent of GDP (based on the preceding year’s economic statistics), the sum to
be expended in accord with the priorities of a governmental agency – let’s call
it the National Health Commission (NHC) – whose sole task is to decide which
services will be covered and which excluded.
The National Health
Commission? Pray you never have a
bleeding heart!
Why seven percent? That amount actually is close to the
proportion of GDP devoted to health care by the governments of Canada and the
United Kingdom, both devotees of single payer delivery systems offering very
high standards of care.
Certainly a libertarian can come up with a better reason
than this.
Of course the seven percent
stipulation is somewhat arbitrary. Because
I am a libertarian I would prefer a ceiling of five
percent, the remainder to be consigned to private arrangements.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't like it even if it were wrapped in BACON!
That is too funny. Hahaha. What a perfect visual. Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find that picture?
Just did a search for an image, something like: stunned look face.
DeleteLOL.
ReplyDeleteI like that you are using pictures and giant red text.
Whats next? Memes?
I could have written 1000 words in the conclusion and not conveyed my feelings any better than I did through this picture.
DeleteAs to the giant red text...just wanted to be sure no one missed the point.
:-()
Memes? Way too much technical competence required. I am a simpleton.

ReplyDeleteI think that both of you would enjoy Sean II's posts at BHL.
Besides being exceptionally intelligent and witty, he is NOT a bleeding heart libertarian.
