Turkish Bazaar

From Reuters:

European Union leaders welcomed Turkey's offer on Monday to take back all migrants who cross into Europe from its soil and agreed in principle to Ankara's demands for more money, faster EU membership talks and quicker visa-free travel in return.

European Council President Donald Tusk told reporters in Brussels following a Turkey-EU summit meeting Monday that the bloc has agreed on six proposals by Turkey, including the return of all irregular migrants, accelerating visa liberalization for Turkish citizens and burden sharing of Syrian refugees.

Ankara has requested visa-free travel for its citizens by the end of June and an additional 3 billion euros ($3.3 billion) to meet the needs of Syrian refugees in Turkey.

This on top of 3 billion Euros already pledged.

Admittedly, this next part isn’t very clear to me.  None of this appears designed to slow the flow of refugees, only change the method of immigration:

According to Turkey’s proposal to the EU, seen by Anadolu Agency, the country wants the 28-nation bloc to "share the burden'' based on a formula of "for every Syrian readmitted by Turkey from the Greek islands, another Syrian will be resettled from Turkey to the EU member states".

The Turkish Bazaar

Ankara aids, trains, shelters and otherwise supports those causing the destructive conditions in Syria and Iraq.  Members of the President’s family are allegedly in the middle of a smuggling operation for oil from the war-torn regions.

Turkey is a key contributor to causing the conditions necessary to create a flood of refugees.

And Europe is willing to pay Turkey to help solve this problem.

It should be obvious that the problem will not be solved by Turkey even after these measures.

  1. My favorite part of this "agreement" is for every person sent to Turkey, Turkey gets to send a person to the EU.
    What?
    What?
Only lying corrupt people could try to call this a fix, and try to cram it down the Europeans as a good deal. Unreal. Simply unreal.
Of course Turkey is a main reason for this happening, but what a great deal they came up with. And they will get visa restrictions lifted months ahead of what the original deal was. Only the State could come up with solutions like this, and applaud themselves for it.

  2. There is no reason to believe that the money was given to stop the influx of refugees, and every reason to believe that is was given to ensure that the influx does not stop.
