It is difficult to accept that intelligent people still
believe this…or that this topic can be discussed while ignoring the elephant in
the room.
John Mauldin has posted just such an analysis, written by Dr.
Woody Brock: The
Islamic Hatred of Modernity.
While I do not dismiss certain of the points made by the
author, it is impossible to take seriously an analysis of Islamic terrorism
that ignores the decades-long destruction of the Middle East by the West –
especially the United States; it is impossible to take seriously any comment
about the refugee crisis in Europe without mentioning the devastation of Libya and
Syria by those same Western forces.
Not a single mention.
Ignoring such truths ensure only one thing: a never-ending
war ending in the total destruction of both the Muslim countries that are
attacked and the destruction of any semblance of a desirable western society.
If the cause is viewed as “Islamic hatred,” this war will
never end until it destroys 1.5 billion Muslims and 1.0 billion in the West.
No, comments in two days? The other respondents to your great analysis are as dumbfounded as I. How can you explain to the authors you site that these people are being conditioned through violence by the USA and its "allies" to hate them. Why is it so surprising that they act out on this hate? I think that these people are really being somewhat docile as they should be really pissed off.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm pissed alright! Just been at sea for two weeks.
DeleteThere are people out there that want a civilization clash between the hollowing out West and the Islamic world. One of the ways they get us to consent to this clash is by ramping up actual clashes in western countries through the government program of importing Muslim migrants and "refugees".
ReplyDeleteI agree that any discussion of Middle East politics and terrorism must recognize the blowback created by various governmental actions, i.e. CIA led coups, US led wars for "democracy", drone strikes and economic sanctions, to name a few.
ReplyDeleteNon-interventionists lose all credibility however, when choosing to brush aside or minimize the very real consequences of an ideology that encourages violence, degeneracy and hatred. Homosexuals are not being thrown off buildings in the Islamic world because of American Foreign policy. Honor killings, stoning of adulterers, killing of apostates, child marriages, hatred of the Kafir are not widespread in the Islamic world because of the Neocons at the head of the U.S. government. All of this evil is explained and advocated for in the Koran, Hadith and the Sira. Even terrorism is in following the example of the fake prophet who said "I have been made victorious through terror."
Recognizing this barbarous ideology for what it is does not excuse the warmongers who would seek to remake this part of the world in their image through unjust and immoral wars.
It is high time we recognize that the COMBINATION of ideology and interventionism are manifesting themselves in the disastrous ways we see daily on the news.

DeleteThe key words being “in the Islamic world.”
While no less a humanitarian tragedy, what does this have to do with anything? These things happen “over there.” I will applaud your voluntary efforts to go solve these issues. You are free to intervene to your heart’s content.
God bless, and good luck.
Bionic...
DeleteSomething must justify the Boat Loads of Money extracted from the economy/citizens to run the racket of the Military Industrial Complex Machine. You know the one that the US Constitution plainly laid out in the General Welfare Clause to stomp out Evil-Doers around the globe.
What can possibly be wrong with that noble Progressive Endeavor? Or how could that ever be abused by the Old Oligarchs?
I kid...
Thanks for the response.
ReplyDeleteThe relevance in pointing out the religious ideology motivating many of the terrorist attacks is to state that, while American interventionism is necessary for much of the blow back seen, it is not a sufficient explanatory variable in and of itself.
As believers in a free society, we should vigorously expose and advocate against all bad ideas, whether political, religious, secular, etc.
