Shelter in Place

I offer this video from Jonathan Pageau on the symbolism of epidemics.  It is 30 minutes, and well worth your time.  He makes several wonderful points and observations of the insanity of what is going on today, all interpreted through his Christian (Orthodox) symbolic lens – yet perfectly accessible and meaningful to even the die-hard atheist.

Second, this editorial (h/t LRC)summarizing the views of a Stanford professor on the matter, with a link to the professor’s original editorial.  This professor is no flake:

John P.A. Ioannidis is professor of medicine, of epidemiology and population health, of biomedical data science, and of statistics at Stanford University and co-director of Stanford’s Meta-Research Innovation Center.

-------------------------------------------------

I continue to believe that this virus has blown to diabolical proportion in order to cover for the financial system that was going to collapse in any case: the system isn’t collapsing because of the virus; the virus is the pretext invented to deflect blame for the collapse.

Events daily only reinforce this view.  Will people die?  Of course, just as they do from the flu.  Will the numbers be accurate, with an accurate analysis of the factors causing death?  No chance, as this will destroy the narrative.

-------------------------------------------------

Whatever happens, the state will use it for its aggrandizement.  If relatively few deaths are attributed to this virus, it will be because the state took draconian measures – and these measures must be permanent and permanently available.  If many deaths are attributed to the virus, it will be because the state did not have enough power, and evermore power will be stolen from us.

-------------------------------------------------

Almost hourly, more cities, counties and states are suggesting, advising, or requiring us to shelter in place.  In a land that had some understanding of the world, we would know this as martial law.

Perhaps soon enough the entire country will be under such orders.  Then what?

Exodus 12: 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

Conclusion

Hopefully you have painted blood on your door posts.

  1. From an interview of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat by Fox News correspondent Rita Cosby about the danger of making peace with Israel:

COSBY: Are you worried about being assassinated by your own people, by extremists?

ARAFAT: Not to forget, you are speaking with General Yasser Arafat. It's true that I am an engineer. But also I am a general. And I am religious. I believe that no one can approach me except God.

  2. "I continue to believe that this virus has blown to diabolical proportion in order to cover for the financial system that was going to collapse in any case"

Exactly. I'm 100% with you and Dr. Paul on this. Interesting that Tom Woods is a little mixed about his feelings on this. I think he even criticized those calling it a hoax, perhaps not knowing that Dr. Ron Paul had already done so. Anyway, good friends can disagree on things.

But people have lost their minds. Even people close to me, who normally have good sense, are totally freaked by this Wu Flu nonsense. I'm enjoying working from home though and spending extra time with my wife and children. #Coronavacation

This may be the biggest damned hoax of our lifetimes, depending on the global political fall-out that ensues. The stock market is crashing like it's 1929. Oil is below $24.

I don't remember how I came across this article by C.J. Hopkins at Off Guardian, but it's easily my favorite one concerning COVID-19 thus far in year 1 AC (Anno Coronavirusia).

There's a few other good articles on this website concerning Corona madness worth perusing as well, especially one concerning the Italian death rate. (disclaimer: I'm not even sure where this website stands politically, but from what I gather, some form of anti-empire populism.)

The name C.J. Hopkins sounds familiar but I can't place where or whether I've read him before.

"Hopefully you have painted blood on your door posts."

Yes yes, good good, but just be sure to wash your hands after (for twenty minutes) and for Chrissakes don't touch your face, ever again!!!

I am wondering if I can take my $1000 government grant in the form of cases of Corona - although I would prefer if they let me choose a beer that is less watery. If it must be Mexican beer, I will happily settle for Modelo.

As for not touching my face - WHAT? No more sign of the Cross?

I liked the links. Thanks for sharing.

    2. As to the "hoax"....

People will die this year of the flu, maybe people even close to me, maybe me. Maybe more people than usual. None of this changes the fact that millions of lives are being destroyed.

There is a cost to this reaction: it will be measured in far more lives than the virus will take, although no one counts these lives.

If you could buy futures in suicides and opioids due to permanently lost employment and bankruptcy of small entrepreneurs, you will make a fortune.

    3. That is my big concern. I dont think most people think about the whole equation.

    4. Just say no to Corona beer. Life is too short to drink beer that bad.

Dos Equis is my beer (although Modelo is good too). It's a combo of my German heritage (brewed by German immigrants in Mexico) and my Mexican culture immersed childhood.

    5. RMB, you are right - most people don't think about this. It is easy to say "follow orders" when you work in an "essential" industry, or when you can work from home and still draw a paycheck. Millions can't do this.

    6. ATL, I agree with you on Dos Equis, also. I am finding that the beers I enjoy from different parts of the world have German ancestry. Tsingtao is one of these:

    7. I had predicted this earlier that there will be more death and misery created by the bankruptcies and financial distress than the virus.

At least the firearm business is booming. And that is for firearms and the bigger boom for ammunition is about to happen.

  3. Every time I go somewhere, I discover that my destination is closed or cancelled. I just received an email from a church notifying me of the great opportunity they have to serve the community during this crisis. They then followed this with the fact that they were now closing their doors until further notice. Here's the biblical reference that comes to mind for me: "
"Ye shall flee when none pursueth you. And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth. And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth" Lev. 26:17,31,36,37

    1. The early church grew by taking care of the elderly, the sick, the poor, the widow. Today's churches advocate war, killing millions overseas, and ignore those with need at home. Miserable.

There are things in life that many elderly find even more valuable than life itself; one of these is community, time with loved ones, cherished memories when one realizes he is closer to the end of the race than the beginning.

Stripping these from the elderly is what will kill them, in far larger numbers than this virus.

I found this quite worthwhile, "Evidence over Hysteria."

It is long; make sure to read to the end where it begins: "So what should we do?"

    4. Yup. It was taken down by the liberal thought police over at Medium. Luckily Zerohedge published it before that happened.

    5. It was really irritating. People were saying the article was "debunked". I read the debunk article from Carl. He admits that most of what Aaron wrote was correct. But he hated the fact that Aaron wasn't a "professional", so he slandered him quite a bit. His critique was not a good faith response. It was a snarky tar and feathering.

There were a few points Aaron makes that are a bit of an over reach but his points generally stand. As we get more data Aaron will be proven right or wrong, but that was the whole point, look at the data.
