Federalism worked for a while because there was a level of competition between the regional and the central authorities, but once the latter inevitably superseded the former and asserted dominance, the competition was killed and good governance perished with it.A Texas Libertarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02980539931923054404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-648884752216444797.post-51145524458227303402019-09-04T13:20:03.136-07:002019-09-04T13:20:03.136-07:00'Janet Bond' would be pushing it too far f...'Janet Bond' would be pushing it too far for my racial and sexual sensibilities... I noticed a barf worthy amount of PC nonsense for sure.

The future is for people of color and women. White males can basically die, get old, or retire from positions of authority. Same thing with Star Wars. Luke's character is discredited and killed off. They give him a heroic send off just like Iron Man, but in the end they are both gone.

And it's not that I'd be opposed to a black Captain America. Or a black Bond. Or that I mind racial intermixing. It's that it is part of a political game of social manipulation. It's that it is an agenda to destroy, discredit, disarm, or otherwise relegate to the dustbin of history white males - those most dangerous to any tyrannical government.A Texas Libertarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02980539931923054404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-648884752216444797.post-28661282678549997042019-09-04T09:54:54.958-07:002019-09-04T09:54:54.958-07:00The pendulum swing is the bane of existence.
On ...The pendulum swing is the bane of existence.

On one extreme we have the principle of equality (the yearning for collective sovereignty), and on the other the principle of the ego (the yearning for individual sovereignty). The former basically holds that everyone gets an equal share regardless of one's deserts, while the latter authorizes everyone to take whatever they can by force.

The Christian can abide neither of these. He must follow the principle of equity (God's word is sovereign), or that principle best characterized by the motto 'suum cuique' (to each his due). But how do we get the pendulum to stop here while it's swinging wildly to the two extremes?

I think the only answer is to, like you have suggested, find a smaller pendulum with less inertia. Decentralization is key, but this principle itself must not be taken to it's extreme of 'no centers'. Rather we need a polycentric order with many geographically limited overlapping and coterminous centers of authority.

Hopefully in one of these we can find something like a healthy, peace and prosperity promoting liberty regulated by the Christian faith and led by virtuous men.A Texas Libertarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02980539931923054404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-648884752216444797.post-43456078850444702892019-09-02T14:34:53.520-07:002019-09-02T14:34:53.520-07:00Thank you, until now I didn't know about the d...Thank you, until now I didn't know about the dark enlightenment. Actually it looks quite interesting. As far as I understand, now we're looking at free market anarchists who no longer believe the universalist claim that is embedded within libertarianism; as libertarianism, as is socialism, are both products of Christianity, which is a universalist doctrine. Given the fact that races exist, as well as the differences between them - at the time the original theories were developed this was not an issue - are, in fact, an element to consider.
