It's no secret that the internet has severely eroded the media and university gatekeepers' power to control the flow of information. Thanks to the internet, we now have access to many streams of information. Not only are many millions of Americans ignoring the dictates of the media and establishment political elites, they now openly despise these busybodies whose "expertise" in all matters has clearly ruined the country.

Maybe Trump is where he's at not because the powers that be have cut him some slack, but because their power to control and manipulate public opinion has been severely weakened. The public is simply ignoring their fear mongering. The public is gravitating to Trump more out of gut instinct than out of a reasoned assessment of his various pronouncements.

Maybe it's all an affectation, but Trump's working class, bar brawler campaign style has really connected at a subconscious level with ordinary middle Americans who feel used and betrayed by effete, smooth talking politicians and their media sycophants. He is voicing with impunity what most middle Americans have on their minds but, because of the PC scolds, are afraid to utter except in the privacy of their homes.

Maybe the Trump phenomenon is not a choreographed affair. Maybe Trump represents the cracks in the establishment's power. All conventional attempts to undermine his momentum have failed because a revolution is brewing in people's minds. The bipartisan establishment is losing the battle for the mind and soul of Americans. That's the real reason why they despise Trump so intensely. I'm sure the media realizes this, as does whoever they take marching orders from.

It's not necessarily impossible to wonder if this has been done on purpose to stoke support of these levels. This theory gets a little more interesting when we look at who Trump chose to surround himself with once there was no chance the nomination wouldn't be his.

But, who knows. I'm not asserting this is what we're seeing. If I learned anything from the 2008 election cycle, you don't give a foe of your agenda this much coverage hoping that he doesn't gain supporters - Ron Paul got marginalized and silenced near entirely, and he was nothing but a threat to the status quo.

I don't know what Trump will turn out to be. Certainly not a Libertarian, but he hasn't pretended to be one either. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate what he's (apparently) done to the MSM or the establishment crowd.
